(Port) Wine of the month October 2018: Cockburn Vintage Port 1912

Back in 2008 14 Port lovers from four different countries met in London to taste some 24 Vintage Ports from Cockburn. Exactly ten years later almost the same group met again to taste roughly the same variety of Cockburn Vintage Ports again, this time from 1908 (in Magnum!) to 1977. Already voted “wine of the night” in 2008, the 1912 Cockburn Vintage Port earned the gold medal again this year: Full transparent, fresh red color. The Bouquet shows complex coffee and toffee notes and a spicy background. Chocolate, toffee and coffee with a perfectly supporting acidity on the palate. Long and fresh (!) aftertaste. This Port becomes better and better with more air. 19/20
